Project description:

PreKNIGHT was a seed money project under the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) supporting the Horizontal Action “Neighbours”. The project aimed to strengthen cross-border cooperation between EU and non-EU partners, particularly between Finland, Russia and Germany, in the fields of energy efficiency, green technologies and sustainable housing. By bringing together actors from academia, business and public administration, the project supported knowledge exchange and prepared the concept for a larger transnational cooperation project.

Objectives:

  • Promote energy efficiency and resource-saving technologies in the Baltic Sea Region.
  • Strengthen cross-border cooperation between EU and Russian partners.
  • Develop a concept for a transnational cluster focusing on green technologies and sustainable energy solutions.

Key actions & results:

  • Mapped existing projects, networks and cooperation opportunities related to energy efficiency and green technologies.
  • Organised stakeholder meetings and discussions to strengthen Finnish–Russian–German cooperation.
  • Developed a concept for a larger transnational project and built a regional knowledge network supporting future collaboration.
