Project description:

Project created added value to the Baltic Sea Region cooperation taking place in Southwest Finland. A great number of actors were already working within the framework and this project made it possible to widen networks especially towards potential Russian partners. Offering information in Russian supported this overall aim.

Objectives:

The aim of the project was to bring added value to Southwest Finland’s Baltic Sea activities and support the region’s cooperation networks and advocacy. The project’s goal was to increase the region’s visibility, especially in Russia, and open up new opportunities for collaboration.

Key actions & results:

During the project, the need for compiling Russian-language material about the Baltic Sea Region was identified and a user-oriented system for sharing information was created. Information dissemination focused on both Russian-produced material about the Baltic Sea Region and the sharing of Russian-language material describing Southwest Finland’s Baltic Sea activities. Cooperation was also strengthened with English and Finnish-language publications that discussed Russia from different perspectives. The project built a Russian-language data bank and expert network on the Domus Baltica portal and strengthened cooperation networks between Finnish and Russian Baltic Sea actors.
