Accessibility Statement

This is the accessibility statement of the Centrum Balticum Foundation.

This accessibility statement concerns the service https://centrumbalticum.org/ and was updated on 25.8.2026. The service is subject to the Act on the Provision of Digital Services, which requires public online services to be accessible.

The accessibility of the website has been assessed through an external accessibility review and self-assessment.

Accessibility status of the digital service

Our website has been built from the ground up together with a web developer who is committed to taking accessibility requirements into account at every stage of the project, so the website largely conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA success criteria as required by the Act. We have improved the accessibility of the website in areas identified in the assessment. When producing new content, we take accessibility requirements into account to the best of our ability. The non-compliances are described below.

Non-accessible content and functionalities

Accessibility issues in PDF documents

Some PDF documents available on the website do not fully meet accessibility requirements. This particularly concerns older publications. The deficiencies may make documents difficult to use with screen readers and other assistive technologies.

  • PDF documents may include images that are missing text alternatives. (WCAG 1.1.1)
  • PDF documents may have layout issues that hamper screen reader use, such as unnecessary line breaks and headings with no heading levels. (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • Some PDF documents do not have a programmatically determined structure, in which case the screen reader cannot identify the elements or reading order of the document. (WCAG 1.3.1 and 1.3.2)

If you need information contained in a PDF document in an accessible format, please contact us. We will do our best to provide the content in an accessible format.

Text readability

Some of the longer headings may be cut off when the text is enlarged. (WCAG 1.4.4)

Navigating the website

When navigating the website with a keyboard, the focus indicator seems to disappear on the main menu. This is due to insufficient contrast in the text. (WCAG 2.4.7)
