04.03.2019 Paving the way to better cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region through labour mobility

The question of labour mobility is very topical today for Baltic Sea Region, as well as in Europe and on the global scale, especially when it comes to economic growth. Almost all of the Baltic Sea Region states, however not all, also belong to the European Union – unique political union of 28 nation states, that combines double layer of political governance, diplomatic representation, economy, currency, labour market. Therefore, at least three types of labour mobility can be distinguished in the Baltic Sea Region, such as mobility inside certain state, labour mobility between the member states of the European Union, as well as between EU Member states and no-EU states. Naturally, they all fall under different regulations.

25.02.2019 Call for projects – Apply now and be part of a communication campaign!

Centrum Balticum is looking for projects to be featured in a multi-channel communication campaign “Cohesion through EUSBSR”. The campaign aims at highlighting the impact of EU Cohesion policy in the Baltic Sea macro-region. It puts EU-funded transnational and cross-border projects and their beneficiaries in the forefront, and communicates the benefits and contributions of Cohesion policy to the development of the macro-region.

11.02.2019 Funding for projects – Centrum Balticum keeps communicating to and about the Baltic Sea region

Centrum Balticum has gained a good amount of expertise as a Baltic Sea region communicator, and by being in charge of several communications projects. In 2019 we stay on the same track, as two project applications were approved for funding! This means that we both continue the project Let’s communicate! responsible for communicating the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR), and start something new in the form of a communications campaign about EU Cohesion Policy's results in the Baltic Sea region.

06.02.2019 Centrum Balticum’s projects listed as good practices in the new European Commission's report on the macro-regional strategies

On January 29, 2019, European Commission published a new report on the implementation of EU macro-regional strategies. The report looks into the present state, success and challenges of the four EU strategies’ implementation. Various Centrum Balticum’s projects have been listed as good practices and examples in the report.

27.11.2018 “Reform, rethink, revival” – envisioning the future of Baltic Sea region cooperation

The seminar “Future of Baltic Sea Region Cooperation” organized by BALEX Studies and HA Neighbours gathered a good number of participants at the University of Turku Law School on November 23 2018. As the tensions in the Baltic Sea region have increased, actors in the region have had to find new ways of working and to redefine their role. One of these actors is the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) which was the focus of the seminar.

13.11.2018 Anders Ahnlid: Defence cooperation between Finland and Sweden is important to both parties

Ambassador of Sweden to Finland Anders Ahnlid visited Turku on Finnish Swedish Heritage Day 6.11.2018. He gave a speech in a luncheon seminar organized by Centrum Balticum Foundation and City of Turku. Theme of the seminar was the defence cooperation between Sweden and Finland in the Baltic Sea region. After the seminar Ahnlid also gave a lecture hosted by Pan European Institute at Turku School of Economics.
